Activities and Programmes

Young Urbanites delivery is a progressive and effective means of working with young people. Our workshops and programmes are designed to help young people develop an understanding of self and others, raise confidence and self esteem, and to encourage self-motivation and social inclusion.

Our main activities include:

Social Awareness Workshops

  • Stereotypes
  • Stereotypes and the media

These interactive workshops identify how labelling can affect the behaviour of young people, and how they are perceived and treated by others including their peers. Read more.


Global Citizen Workshops

  • Things ain't as foreign as they seem
  • Blinglish and beyond

These interactive and informative workshops highlight positive cultural exchange, and the impact of one culture upon the popular culture of another. Read more.


Drug Awareness Workshops

  • Keepin’ it real (Drugs, youth, and youth culture)

Keepin’ it real is a series of hard hitting streetwise drug awareness workshops that identify the dark side and pitfalls of glamorised street and drug cultures. Read more.

The Social Awareness Programme

The aim of the Social Awareness Programme is to provide a social education that helps all young people, in particular those identified as at risk of social exclusion, to improve their own learning and performance and ability to work with others. By incorporating ASDAN wider key skills criteria and accreditation into the programme it allows the participants to have their achievements recognised. Read more.


The R.O.A.R. (Responding Openly Against Racism) Conference

The ROAR Conference will identify the effects of racism and provide young people an opportunity to share their experiences of prejudice and racism. It will replace suspicion with understanding and identify ways of stopping racism within society. Read more.

Young Urbanites at Hewett School

The project was nominated for a Celebrate Award; an award ceremony set up by the Government Office for the East of England (Go East), the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA). Read more.
