Global Citizen Workshops

The Global Citizen Workshops carry a powerful message of anti-racism. Rather than focusing on the celebration of difference, these workshops present a vivid illustration of how a different culture is the source of many familiar trends, and is in fact so deeply integrated into British culture that it has shaped, influenced or touched the lives of all modern Britons.

Things ain't as foreign as they seem

Black youth have influenced white youth culture for fifty years. Recently, the rise of MTV and the mainstreaming of R n B and Hip Hop that followed have raised awareness of the influence of black culture on wider society today. However, this influence stretches way beyond the boundaries of music and trends that are obviously black in origin, as this workshop will illustrate.

Blinglish and beyond

‘Blinglish and beyond’ is a music-based workshop that is an interactive, educational and exciting visual and audio journey that highlights positive cultural exchange. It expands upon the theme of the workshop ‘Things ain't as foreign as they seem,’ charting the origins and development of youth culture.
