The R.O.A.R. (Responding Openly Against Racism) Conference
The ROAR Conference is a two day event that is delivered to a whole year group. Young Urbanites bring together a team of dynamic facilitators with considerable experience in delivering workshops and activities that raise awareness of race, challenge stereotypes, promote cultural diversity, and encourage young people to respond positively to changing communities.
The conference will create positive understanding of communities and cultures that are seen as different, and celebrate the contributions they have made to this country and/or the world.
Workshop topics include: Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Media Representations and Stereotypes, The Rainbow Nation Story (the story of South Africa and apartheid), Gypsies and Travellers, and The influence of black youth culture.
